How to Apply Your Touch Up Paint

First and most important, don’t practice on your vehicle, first practice on a piece of cardboard or paper to ensure the paint color matches your vehicle. After your sure the paint color matches, follow these steps below to paint your vehicle.

Important: Use the proper painting equipment and all proper follow safety procedures. Color Match Auto Paint Supply is not responsible for paint applied to your vehicle. We recommend a professional auto body shop that is experienced in painting your car, truck, or SUV.

Steps to Applying Your Paint Correctly

Finding and ordering the correct paint

Test the paint color and practice.

Before painting your car, try the auto paint on another surface on cardboard or paper to test the match. Let it dry, and if it looks good, you are ready to start the scratch repair.

Proper painting conditions.

For best results, find a place that has low humidity, is not in direct sunlight, and is at 70°F for car spray paint.

Prepare vehicle.

Clean the area you want to paint using soap and grease remover. If your auto paint is rusty, we recommend using 220 grit sandpaper or a wire brush, sold here.

Applying the primer.

Using thin coats of primer and let it dry for at least 30 minutes to several hours. We don’t recommend using enamel primer.

Applying your paint color.

 Apply several thin coats of the  paint to the repair point of your vehicle.. Let it dry for at least 30 minutes to several hours.

Applying clearcoat.

Apply several layers of clear coat, letting it dry between coats (atleast 30 mins), sold here.

Use rubbing compound.

Make it shine. Wait at least three days, then apply rubbing compound to the entire area you painted. This will make it smooth and shiny, sold here.
